Duolingo Application Process
As I started exploring opportunities for Summer 2026, I applied to several Product Management internships at well-known companies, including Duolingo. From a large applicant pool, only a small group is invited to complete a take-home assignment. While I wasn’t selected to move on to the next stage, I genuinely enjoyed working through the project and bringing everything together. Below are the condensed instructions from the assignment:
Pick one KPI and propose a new or reimagined Duolingo feature to improve it
Create a 4–5 slide PDF that clearly explains the idea
Include UI mockups or wireframes directly in the slides
Provide enough detail for design and engineering to get started
Explain how you’d validate the idea and A/B test it, including key metrics to track
The Results
After a week of brainstorming, scoping, designing, and refining, these are my final five slides. The KPI I focused on improving was Day 1, 7, 30, and 90 retention among travel-motivated users. Designed in Figma
